Heat Pump Services in Livermore

Comprehensive Heat Pump Solutions for the East Bay Region

A heat pump performs the functions of both a furnace and an air conditioner, utilizing electricity to transfer heat instead of burning gas to generate it. In summer, it cools your home just like a traditional AC. In winter, it reverses the process and pulls heat from the outdoor air to warm your house. The result is year-round comfort from a single, efficient system that can significantly lower your energy bills compared to traditional heating and cooling systems.

Eagle Air has been installing and servicing heat pumps in Livermore since they started gaining traction in California. We work with Trane and Lennox to provide systems built for our climate, and our NATE-certified technicians are trained in the specific requirements these systems need to operate efficiently. Whether you're building new, replacing an old furnace and AC combination, or adding heating and cooling to a room without ductwork, we'll help you determine if a heat pump makes sense for your home.

How Heat Pumps Actually Work

A heat pump doesn't generate heat by burning fuel, it moves heat from one place to another. In cooling mode, it operates similarly to an air conditioner, drawing heat out of your home and releasing it outside. In heating mode, it does the reverse: it extracts heat from the outdoor air (yes, even when it's cold outside) and moves it into your home. This process uses far less energy than creating heat from scratch, which is why heat pumps can deliver two to three times more heating energy than the electricity they consume.

The key component is a reversing valve that switches the direction of refrigerant flow, depending on whether heating or cooling is needed. Eagle Air installs both ducted heat pumps that work with your existing ductwork and ductless mini-split systems, which allow you to heat or cool specific rooms without ducts. Ductless systems work particularly well for home additions, garages, or older homes where running ductwork isn't practical.

Why Heat Pumps Make Sense in Livermore

Livermore's climate is nearly ideal for heat pump technology. Our winters are mild compared to those in places like the Midwest or Northeast, which means heat pumps can handle almost all of our heating needs without requiring a backup heating source. They work efficiently down to temperatures well below what we typically see here, and when summer arrives, they cool your home just as effectively as a traditional air conditioner.

California's building codes are also pushing toward electrification and away from natural gas appliances as part of the state's climate goals. New homes are increasingly required to use electric heating, and rebates are often available for homeowners who switch from gas to electric systems.

Eagle Air stays current on available incentives and can help you understand what programs might apply to your situation when you're considering a heat pump installation.
